Reporting to the Festival Director and Festival QC, this person is responsible for the successful planning of all festival related resources and logistics needed to produce a Festival within Spartan Race.  Working side-by-side with the Race Director and Race Project Manager, the Festival Manager plays a key leadership role in planning the event and ensuring the festival staff is working efficiently as possible while maintaining a high brand standard.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Unloading and organize the contents of the Festival Trailer within base camp
  • Ensure Festival as a production is operating within current company standard operating procedures
  • Determine the logistics and resources needed to create Festival based on the design and elements provided by the Pre-Planning team.  This includes personnel (staff, local labor or Labor Ready), supplies and equipment
  • Track all items the PDD (Procurement Delivery Doc) relating to Festival, while communicating with onsite support and procurement, specific resources outstanding or needed to produce the event
  • Communicate any onsite needs (extra sandbags, fencing, hay, heaters etc.) prior to event during pre planning meetings as well as through the proper channels on site and follow up when necessary
  • Manage all onsite festival inventories, including collateral, individual zones, tents, and branding
  • Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to provide services such as trash, showers, security and Parking In a timely manner – (Before the week of the race) Be specific with any requests
  • Provide leadership by conducting yourself in a professional manner while setting the example by following all Spartan SOP’s and set the standard for work ethic for onsite staff
  • Alongside the appropriate parties, the FM is responsible for troubleshooting any staffing or procurement issues pertaining to Festival both prior, during and post event
  • Timely pre-race communication to all Festival staff, relaying all pertinent information needed to be prepared and successful
  • Manage event staff (zone leaders, local labor, volunteers) through the use of checklists and constant communication
  • Manage breaks for Festival staff and volunteers daily
  • In coordination with the Race Director, ensuring timely and accurate payment/tracking of local labor or hourly staff members
  • Manage event specific logistics (knowledge of the contents of pre and post race inventory/pre and post shipments)
  • Drive timelines and checklist to completion
  • Provide a thorough quality check for the final product and procedures produced for each zone that make up our Festivals
  • Be able to produce trailer load plans given event specific variations in inventories and weights. Be knowledgeable of the contents of each crate on the trailer
  • Various admin tasks outside of the event schedule


The qualified person in this position will

  • Have previous experience as a manager of large diverse groups in a dynamic environment
  • Must have worked in all festival zones prior, ensuring the familiarity of the operations and can manage each accordingly
  • Be comfortable working outdoors in challenging conditions
  • Be comfortable traveling 100 days or more during the year
  • Possess sound communication skills including availability via phone or email
  • Have an attention to detail and can drive timelines
  • Possess a strong analytical approach to managing projects and problem solving
  • Thrive in an environment of process, creative thinking and problem solving
  • Be capable of navigating and utilizing email, Microsoft Office programs, Google Drive and Egnyte
